That's
not my story!

You may recall those lyrics being from a song sung by Cher in the 70's. The wagon story was my ploy to get you to come to this page...it worked!

I was born in Brooklyn, New York, into a Jewish family. The Mensch family to be exact.  My sisters and I were raised reform Jews and my parents were very modern people.  Well, as modern as you can be when you’re talking about the 1950’s.  Our home was not a ‘religious’ home but we were raised with a sense of morals and values.

As I grew up, I started to develop my own sense of who God was—which was basically no God at all.  Because of the era I grew up in, I was introduced to drugs, rock & roll and basic bad behavior.  I became a rebel of all things normal and flourished at the tail end of the “Hippie generation.”   By the time I was 19 years old, I was already a heavy drug user—both a  junkie and a pusher.  Do they even use those words anymore?  Who knows?  I am so old that rain bows used to be black and white!

Shortening a very long story (ahem), at 20 years old I thought my life was over, until someone introduced me to a God who loved me.  At that time I started following the teachings of Jesus Christ and my life took a turn for the better.  I knew that if God could do these wonderful things for me, I would do anything for Him.  And so I did.

From that point forward I started working with children to make their lives better.  I attended Zion Bible Institute (now Northpoint College) where the woman in charge of Children’s Ministries (Rosemary Messerlian) took me under her wing.  I then went on to finish a Bachelor’s degree at Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington.

I began traveling as a Children’s Evangelist telling boys and girls all over the country (through fun, and interactive live shows) that God loves them and has a plan for their lives.  I stopped a few times and went on staff at several churches as a Children’s Pastor and loved each stop (Wayne, NJ, Mystic, CT and Greenwich, CT).  After about 30 years of traveling in the US, I knew it was time to head overseas.

So I moved to The Netherlands.  And there, guess what?  I was a Children’s Evangelist.  Only this time I did it in Dutch.  I was there for 13 years.  I spent the next few years in the US (the Covid years +) and now I am a Missionary, living in Spain.

...but now I work with Ukrainian refugees.  Click the blue button below for the full details of the ministry, but suffice to say that I train Ukrainian adults how to use art and drama to help rebuild the lives of the children who have been displaced by war and who experienced loss.  I travel with 1-3 other people who volunteer to join me.

Besides helping refugee children, I am also a part of IMM (International Media Ministries) helping when I can, with children’s programming.  IMM’s goal is to get the Gospel message into the hands of everyone who has a screen.  www.imm.edu

Europe’s Children is another organization I am associated with here in Spain – I am on the leadership team.  Europe’s Children exists to Love, Tell and Teach the Gospel message to the Children of Europe.  www.europeschildren.org

Yeah, so I’m really into letting children know that God loves them and has a plan for their lives.  That’s my bag.  Dat is mijn tasje.  Ese es mi bolso.  I mean, I’ve been  doing this now for almost 50 years.  Yikes.
